Despite the sparse snowfall this year, we are pleased to report that skiing conditions are excellent along the entire length of the 42-km route, roughly 70% of which has been covered with artificial snow. Several hundred people are out on the trails every day, and are highly impressed with the quality.
Around six weeks before the event (scheduled for 28 Feb and 1 March due to the Olympics), we are seeing record-breaking numbers, and are also delighted to see that the percentage of women is increasing year by year: Women now make up 30% of the participants, compared to 17% five years ago! The shorter, relatively easy 30-km route has also contributed to a rise in the number of “over 60s”.
Once again, we are looking forward to welcoming participants from around the world: 50% of current registrations are from 27 different countries.
Even beginners to cross-country skiing can experience the unique atmosphere of the Gsiesertal Lauf: The popular “Just for Fun” category is tailor-made for all skiers who want to take part purely for fun, without timings.
The GsieserTalLauf is part of the Euroloppet circuit, and is also a Ski Classics Challenger event.
