Dear friends and athletes,
Sadly, our worst fears have come to pass. The corona situation in South Tyrol is continuing to worsen, and to go ahead with our traditional event would be irresponsible. For this reason, during our meeting of 25th February the organising committee took the decision to cancel this year’s race.
This is a hard knock for all of us, particularly so as the Gsiesertal Lauf has never once been cancelled since it was first raced back in 1984, not even in years of sever snow shortage. We have tried our utmost right up to the bitter end, but the current conditions leave us powerless.
All registration fees which have already been paid will be automatically carried forward for 2022. As stated in the regulations, however, all participants also have the right to request a refund. In this case, please send us a short email with your BIC/Swift code by 5th March.
Despite the current situation we are looking towards the future with optimism. In this spirit, from the beginning of March we will be beginning our preparations for the 2022 race, which will see the introduction of some interesting new features. All going to plan, registrations for 2022 should open on 1st June.
